About Violin Tuner

I’m Hugh, the developer who maintains this site. Violin Tuner checks the four open strings: G, D, A and E. It’s free to use, and you don’t need an account.

Start the tuner, allow the microphone and play one string. You can select a string yourself or let the tuner recognize it. Change the A4 reference in Settings if your teacher or ensemble uses another pitch.

A steady note in a quiet room gives the clearest reading. If the meter jumps, mute the other strings and try again. Ask a teacher for help with a stuck peg or a string that is far out of tune.

Audio is processed on your device. See Privacy for details, or use the fingering charts when you’re ready to practice.
